Support for interactive writing and self-care
Two new approaches have been added to the Early Years Evidence Store:
- Interactive writing
- Self-care.
The Evidence Store is a summary of evidence-informed approaches to help educators to understand and reflect on their practice.
You can explore the two new approaches and a host of other evidence-informed content here.
Boost attainment in Key Stage 2 science
Stop and Think is a 10-week software programme which uses quizzes and games to help Key Stage 2 pupils learn counterintuitive concepts in science and maths. Developed at the Centre for Educational Neuroscience by a team from Birkbeck University of London and the UCL Institute of Education, the programme consists of 12-minute computer-assisted sessions of games designed to challenge common misconceptions.
Findings from an efficacy and effectiveness trial of Stop and Think showed a positive impact on attainment for science. Both trials found that pupils who received the programme made, on average, two additional months’ progress in science, compared to those who had standard lessons.

Updates for Post-16 educators
CPD Case Studies
The EEF are looking for examples of effective continuous professional development in practice in the 16-19 sector. If you or your post-16 colleagues have successful or promising approaches, it would be great if you could share them using this form. Our ideal deadline for brief submissions is 2nd April, but we will keep the form open until the end of April.
Evidence Partnership for Further Education
The EEF has just opened applications for the new 'Evidence Partnership for Further Education', established to support general FE and sixth form colleges to access, understand, and apply research evidence within their teaching and learning. They are looking for 5-6 general FE and sixth form colleges across a range of locations and contexts, as part of an initial 2-year funded partnership opportunity. Applications will close on the 25th April.
