Round up: new opportunities for schools and employers
Your organisation's chance to get involved!
Just launched! 11 exciting research projects
The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) is recruiting schools, colleges, and early years settings to take part in trials of high-potential programmes. They're also subsidising programmes that have previously shown to have a positive impact on student attainment, so more schools can benefit.
From Reception Jigsaw (developed by White Rose Maths), to Rehearsal Room Writing (developed by The Royal Shakespeare Company), to Making Fluent and Flexible Calculators (developed by HFL Education), there are so many ways to help shape education research.

- Early years
The individual theme pages provide more information about the types of projects we’ll fund, as well as links to guidance notes and the application forms.
Across the two themes, there's funding for different types of research – including pilot evaluations and randomised controlled trials – to add to the evidence base of what we know about improving learning outcomes.
Ongoing: Take part in research on attendance with the EEF
Calling secondary schools! The EEF wants to hear about your attendance strategies. Working with the ICF and the Youth Endowment Fund, this research explores the impact of attendance officers.
Each participating school that signs up and shares its experiences will receive an £80 Amazon voucher.
Ongoing: British Red Cross - Humanitarian Education
"We are working on how we can best equip teachers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to address critical humanitarian topics, such as migration, climate, conflict, and building personal and community resilience. Our research has shown that teachers are nervous about tackling issues such as conflict, whether it be Israel/Gaza or violence within the UK. Our aim is to help teachers feel more confident to pass forward knowledge and skills to young people, whilst inspiring them to become the next generation of humanitarians.
We understand that these subjects can be challenging to address, which is why our research is focused on how we can:
- Support teachers - offering professional development and resources that give teachers the confidence to tackle complex humanitarian issues in the classroom.
- Engage students - helping students develop critical thinking and empathy through interactive and relevant content.
- Build resilience - equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate and respond to global challenges, fostering a more resilient and compassionate society.
Currently, we are testing a new, blended programme of humanitarian education, based on a train the trainer model. We are looking for schools and academy trusts to pilot the resources, and teaching schools would be particularly suitable."
